Our communities are better thanks to Veterans. We've surprised 10 Veterans by paying off their homes in full. You can see their reactions and watch their incredible stories at ThanksToVeterans.com.

We're giving away the 11th and final home through a sweepstakes. Veterans can enter for a chance to win $500,000 toward the purchase of a new home. Visit the campaign site to enter and to see the official rules and details.

"These Veterans have continued to live the military value of 'selfless service' even after they've hung up their uniforms," Riggle said. "Teaming up with Veterans United to recognize these incredible Veterans has been an amazing and humbling experience. We hope through shining a light on their stories, we inspire folks across the country to show Veterans just how much they mean to our communities."

"This Veterans Day, we're honoring Veterans not only for their service while in uniform, but for their lifetime of service and all the ways they make communities better," said Pam Swan, vice president of military relations for Veterans United Home Loans and a military spouse. "Our #ThanksToVeterans campaign underscores the commitment Veterans demonstrate daily as local leaders, dedicated volunteers and exemplary neighbors. And what better way to thank these deserving individuals than by giving them houses of their very own in the communities they call home?"

Veterans play a key role in our civic health, from volunteering and community engagement to voting and public safety. To spotlight their lasting impact, we created a documentary video series featuring six Veterans. We surprised four other Veterans on live television on Veterans Day. Most were new or soon-to-be homeowners who are now mortgage-free.

All 10 Veterans are active members of their communities, including a super volunteer Navy Veteran; a Vietnam Veteran helping to raise his grandson; an Army Veteran and the lone police officer in his small town; and a Marine Corps Veteran who volunteers his time teaching self-defense.
